You can change a life and help someone get off the streets today!

You can change a life and help someone get off the streets today!

When you’re hungry you can’t think about change.
All you can think about is survival.

Everett Gospel Mission engages with the community to alleviate poverty. Each $2.05 you give helps feed one man, woman or child experiencing hunger or homelessness in Snohomish County.

20 Years of Changed Lives

Cindy went through unimaginable trauma and abuse as a young woman. Frankly, she was lucky to escape it alive.

But the trauma from that experience made living a normal life impossible. Instead, she turned to drugs as an escape, only to end up in jail. As her release date neared, she realized she had nowhere to go, so she wrote us a letter.

“I wanted to come to the Mission to learn how to navigate life in general. I’d been on the streets and in abusive relationships and in prison. . . when I got out, I wasn’t prepared.”

Thankfully, because of friends like you, Cindy found safe shelter, meals and life-changing programs here at the Mission that helped her learn how to be a mom.

“My kids were four and seven years old when I got out. And staff at the Mission monitored my visits. They gave me parenting classes . . . I did the Genesis program.”

Cindy and her kids were even with us for Christmas.

“The Mission just went above and beyond with gifts and all that. But it was more about just getting together with the people there and spending time together as a family . . . the true meaning of Christmas is what they taught us,” she says.

Not long after that Christmas morning, Cindy and her kids were able to move into their own apartment – that was 20 years ago!

Today Cindy is sober and living on her own. She has good relationships with both of her daughters and a great job as a case manager helping other women find their way into new life!

At the Mission, we love Jesus and He is the reason we do everything we do. We believe He has called us to help and love all of our neighbors regardless of age, gender, race or religion.
